Welcome to The Stone Boat

Dear friends,

The Stone Boat guesthouse has entered a new chapter. After seven seasons of welcoming pilgrims, the house has passed into new hands. My friends Maribel and Carles now care for it as The Pilgrim Stone. They have just completed their first season with warmth, steadiness, and great heart, and it has been a joy to see the house carried forward so beautifully.

The Pilgrim Stone will reopen for the 2026 season in the spring.

As for me, I am settled here in the village for the winter, beginning the quieter work of shaping what comes next. The Stone Boat has slipped from her old mooring and is slowly becoming a vessel for stories, writing, and Camino-related creative work. Everything is unfolding on Camino time. I am taking space to write, to listen, and to keep a simple daily rhythm here in the village, alongside the cats and the occasional brave winter pilgrim on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

If you’re curious, you may notice a new link in the navigation bar for The Hermitage, a small cottage that will soon be available for writers seeking quiet time on the Camino. In October, we will also be hosting The Camino Writers Workshop and Gathering here in the village. I’ll be sharing more about both of these offerings in the upcoming newsletter.
